What would you say of joining Technorm, a part of J.S. Held’s multidisciplinary team? One of our main pride and factors of recognition are the architects, engineers and experts in building codes and standards that work with us. You are passionate about teaching and you are looking for a new challenge? We offer you a position as a trainer in Building Codes and Standards that will grow within our Continuing education department.

You will have a key part in the transmission of technical knowledge within the Code. Your goal? To make the complex requirements of the Code accessible and understandable with concrete and pertinent examples and explanations. You will be in the Continuing education team and you will participate at every step of the trainings from the creation with the multimedia content manager to the support of and follow-up with the learners after the training.

Your responsibilities:

  • Create and teach dynamic trainings (online and face-to-face),
  • Use different media to design the trainings: videos, case studies, presentations, etc.,
  • Vulgarize technical content for different kinds of public from the building industry,
  • Do the necessary follow-up and evaluations after your trainings (evaluation, success rate, tests, etc.),
  • Answer questions, lead discussions in the forums, or participate in post-training FAQs,
  • Collaborate with the continuing education team to improve the pedagogical tools,
  • Update the trainings contents when it is necessary according to changes in the Code and the needs of learners.

Do you have…

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in the building industry?
  • An in-depth knowledge of building Codes and standards?
  • Some experience in continuing education, teaching or tutoring (an asset)?
  • Great interest for vulgarization and oral communication?
  • A passion for sharing your knowledge?
  • Proficiency in French?
  • A good level of English, for the possibility of teaching in English (an asset for targeted audiences)?
  • A rigorous and creative mind and you are a good listener?

Your responsibilities:

  • lead technical investigations to determine the origin of damages caused by flood, fire, etc.
  • lead in his field of expertise and act as the technical reference for the team and cross-functional teams;

  • establish the hypotheses that need to be tested and the possible scenarios;
  • determine the factors responsible for an equipment failure;

  • analyze architecture sketches and drawings, and other pertinent information;
  • determine applicable regulations and regulatory requirements;
  • schedule meetings with the project team as needed;
  • find and develop possible solutions to rectify deficiencies and other identified issues;
  • issue technical reports summarizing the analysis of the situation with the existing templates;
  • answer specific questions about the inquiry or the technical opinion submitted to the clients;
  • verify and guarantee the accuracy of the information given to the clients.

  • a master’s degree in architecture and are interested in Codes and Standards?
  • 5 years of experience including some experience as a consultant in Codes and Standards?
  • a membership to the Ordre des Architectes du Québec?

Your responsibilities:
  • analyze regulatory requirements and guarantee an accurate application;
  • write detailed technical reports about your investigations and about regulatory requirements;
  • lead projects as the person in charge of the file and effectuate thorough follow-ups as needed;
  • assist clients and colleagues in the application of the regulations on a daily basis;
  • meticulously verify norms and regulations compliance for each project
  • help the design team to find different conception and construction solutions to ensure code compliance;
  • make drawings to evaluate distances of occupied buildings or in construction sites;
  • intervene quickly and efficiently when there are technical problems or non-compliances while staying diligent and professional;
  • communicate and collaborate with in-house technical teams to solve complex technical problems related to the projects.
Do you have…
  • a diploma of collegiate studies (DEC) in building engineering (building systems/mechanical) and a passion for Codes and standards?
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in the building field? Experience with commercial buildings, in refrigeration (refrigerationist) or other is an asset.
